Christmas Countdown

10 more sleeps!

all you boys get your wallets out and spoil those women and children !!

please don't foget about your local food banks, and the spca just gets brutalized with costs and overrun with animals in the winter so please dig deep for those or any good cause.

i did four hours at the sally ann food bank here in cranbrook and it was a real eye opener. I learned 'welfare' gives a sigle mom with two kids $45 extra on the december check. What can you buy with $45??

I'm enjoying embracing the spirit of giving. Instead of any presents from my parents I asked them to make whatever donations , wherever they want. Why wait untill we are dead to give?? ya know' Give now.

Thats a great idea.

I will return your gift and take the money from it and what it would have cost for shipping and I will donate to the CFHES (Chilcotin Feral Horse Eradication Society).

Alex

watching you try to catch and saddle one of those 'feral' horses would be present enough for me

Just dropped off our "gifts" in sponsoring a family of 8 through the Union Gospel Mission....not hampers but man they have some extensive lists!! Got them lots of clothes, books a Nintendo Wii and things to that effect and also got the family a laptop and a printer...which was on their list. 3 of the kids wanted some kind of little individual Nintendo system but we figured with 6 kids they could all enjoy the Wii. I was questioning the laptop as you can't help but have a thought in the back of your head that they may sell it, but hopefully it can help the kids out with school, teach them computer skills and do them some good.

The women working at the dropoff was freaking out when she saw the list and saw all of these things checked off.

I will agree.....it sure does feel good speading around some cheer and help for those who are needy!

Merry Christmas and I hope this family from eastern Europe has a great Xmas with all of their new gifts.

WOW! That is a heck of a wish list!
I would have thought more many practical things would have been on it.
Very generous of you! I think you better change your forum name to Santa.

No doubt, contributing to the needy is especially important at Christmas, especially when kids are involved, as the situation they are in, is not their fault. I have tended to become a little soured on the concept though, after personally seeing a few people that I have met, who take advantage of the handouts.

One example was a fellow and his adult Son, who were always loading up on the handouts, even though his Wife had a full time, well paying job. They lived in a nice house that rented for $1000 a month (plus utilitys), had a newer vehicle, big screen TV, internet, cable, cell phones, newer furniture, and they all smoked and drank beer on a regular basis. One day, when they rec'd some grocery's from the food bank that they didn't like, they simply gave them away at the local Legion, (while having a few pints and a smoke) to another individual, who wasn't at all needy..They could have left them at the food bank if they didn't want them..

Pisses me off to no end, to see ---holes doing this who aren't truly deserving. It's outright fraud as far as I am concerned.

I think there should be far better scrutiny placed on who is truly deserving of help, and who isn't. It shouldn't be that hard to police. Perhaps officials from the food bank/Sally Ann, should go to the peoples homes, and see what the real situation is like. Perhaps they could help the family in other ways as well, if the parents happen to be drunks, or druggys, by referring them to AA, or other councilling type associations.

Sorry to rant..I just hate these slacker/scammers, taking advantage of others generosity.

MB Boy you and your family diserve a huge pat on the back for digging deep like that.

On Friday I was quite generous.

Haven't found anyone yet today to brighten up. Getting kind of a late start after the rodeo last night in Kalispel,.

Might be the gal in front of or behind me at the grocery store counting her change. Might be the single dad at the drop in center. Or the half starved horse on someones 'winter pasture' .

Mrs Clauses sleigh is loading up and heading out

$45 buys a lot more than $0

Well done Steady. Too many confuse Christmas for the commercial aspect of it (although who DOESN'T liek presents? )

You hit the nail on the head for the TRUE meaning of Christmas...Good work!
