cow elk 7-20

much like my grizzly thread, this is for a hunting partner who got drawn in 7-20. does anyone know what to expect during this dec to feb season? cow elk down in farm land by this late season? again any input would be appreciated.

I had that same draw last year. The later, the better worked for me.I went to Chetwynd on the 11th of Feb.. Minus 25c drives the elk to the hay stacks. I was lucky having my Bro live there and also prearranged permission from a local farmer.

thanks bud, i was starting to wonder if anyone was going to chime in. is it pretty much private land hunting at that point or is there still access to fsr. do you know if the land owners are fairly cooperative? i assume you can fill the tag in a day if you have access to the right property. sorry to bug but just want to be prepared.

Some of the farmers are very nice and some not. But like I stated earlier, my Brother was a Huge factor in the permission. There is lots of crown land to hunt on. For example, out around Lone Prairie. I sent another hunter out that way last year and he was successful.. You have to do some door knocking first. Thats the biggest hurdle. Once you have that taken care of and you know where the elk are coming in to feed, its just becomes a waiting game..
