Grizzly attacks

Here's some for Boo....

I saw his comment about irrational fear of bear attacks on another thread..Quote " I get a kick out of the hundreds of grizzly protection threads I have seen over the years on various hunting forums. I am really starting to think some people have an irrational fear of bears!" Unquote..

So don't go into the woods without a dog, a handgun, a magnum rifle, pepper spray, or being a skilled actor in the art of playing dead..as a matter of fact don't even go in to the woods..

Just don't go out in the woods and be stupid, the bears are not like the ones portrayed by Disney.....most will not bother you, it's the ones that will chew your azz off that you have to be cautious about.

Bears - all species - usually account for 2-3 deaths a year in North America. Compare that to the 100 - 120 deaths per year from wasp and bee stings and the number seems pretty insignificant.

As long as most people avoid pulling a "Treadwell" and don't camp with the bacon in their sleeping bag they should be OK

One thing about a fatal bear attack. You only have to do it once.

There may only be a couple of deaths per year, but that is no reason to do dumb things. I've had bears coming after me, stalking me...and i don't care what the stats say theyAREmore dangerous than your average house dog. Sleep in your tent with your firearm in the truck and your just asking for trouble...

Imagine how ironic it would be to be stung to death while running away from a bear, because you ran into a hornets nest..

There is another bear in our neighborhood wandering around, fresh poop nearby. Not impressed, as my pears, apples, and corn are all just ripening up..
I wonder if it was the same one that got trapped across the street at my neighbors last fall? They do come back..
