Hunting boot care, and maintenance

I have a favorite pair of leather Irish Setter hunting boots, which I would like to last many years. The original instructions for caring for them were lost in my move, and I can't remember what the recommendations were.

Some if my leather boots over the years, called for applications of brush on liquid silicone for water proofing, others I have used Snow Seal, warmed after applying to the leather. Others I have simply used Dubbin on. I can't remember what I was supposed to use on the Setters..

Anybody know the correct product to apply to these, or what you have had the best long lasting results with for your favorite leather boots?

Viberg Heavy Duty Leather Preservative. EXCELLENT product!

Developed by a wildland firefighter in Idaho. Resists caustic fire retardant chemicals, heat, water and abrasion, yet still breathes! Best protection I have found, and I use it on all my deck boots as well as hunting boots.

Cheers,
Nog

That is Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP H20 proofing and it is THE BEST I have ever used in nearly 50 years with highend Euro. and domestic leather work and mountain boots, NOTHING else comes close.

Do NOT use "Dubbin", I loath "SnoSeal" as it contains silicon which I feel rots stitching and the only other product I will use is "Montana Pitch Blend", which I have used since about 1990. Another is "Pittards", but, only on my Russell's "High Country Hunters".

Get the Obenaufs either direct or from Vibergs and be happy.

Are these local companys, or did you have to import it? Any shoe stores, etc. selling it?

Picked mine up at a smaller boot shop in Port Hardy. Given they had it there, methinks most quality shoe stores will likely have, or can get for you...

Cheers,
Iron
