James & Wes <HBC members> and me met up with Kyle aka Barracuda also off of HBC at Timmies Saturday morning in Hope at 5am. James rode with Barracuda and his hounds and Wes and his pup in training came with me...We were on route to Kamloops to look for tracks in the fresh snow...

From the morning on we covered lots of ground with only deer and coyote tracks to be seen..and the odd deer running off..later in the day we switched it up and crossed over the hwy to try another favorite area i hunt and things were looking the same.... at around 230-3pm we found some early morning bobcat tracks. They were from that morning and had a dusting of snow in them, it stopped snowing at around 8am so that bobcat could be over the next mnt by now

So i collar up Diablo my lead hound turn on the GPS and walk her on the track, she takes it but not hard..so i collar up and release Millie with her. We stand on the road above them and watch them work out the track. Seeing Diablo run it and loose it and take it again i go down to see what the problem is...there was two sets of bobcat tracks and she was working out the right track to stay on....so i gathered Millie so Diablo could work and get it going. Just as i was cresting the hill to the road Diablo did her signature bay of seeing the cat, on trail (bobcats) she doesnt make a sound. Diablo runs on the element of surprise...Hearing those few bays i knew it was coming together. Millie took off to her..

From the road we listen and watch the GPS to see the crumb trail of them running the cat. They go up the other side of the mnt and then to the valley bottom down a ways so we drive the road down to parallel them on the road. We wait and watch the GPS and listen, they go back up the other way doing circles and up and down...we turn around drive a ways again to have them go back down again. We were waiting for them to start to move out of the area so we could start our hike... Thats when my garmin pages me that the hounds have treed. I stop and tell kyle and James the cats treed.

We load up and all head down the mnt with the other hounds and see a nice bobcat treed above Millie and Diablo, Diablo worked her but off to sort out that track and did a great job

Great story and pic's. Thanks for sharing. What calibre do you use to shoot them with? Or whoever does the shooting.
