Let's talk blackies.

All right...I know I'm not the only one!! I've read the "which calibre" thread, now let's hear what your spring blackie plans are. I've still got my old trailer to set up camp in, and I've got a good partner in my son, and a couple buddies, the addition this year is a new RZR. Super fun to burn around in, but I'm really looking forward to getting a little fur in it, not to mention NOT filling my truck with about a billion dollars worth of fuel and burning every drop.

I've heard of a spot where there's reported to be a good population of color phase bears, so I'm thinking that'll be the spot....now a question....I think it's genetics that causes color variations, not diet or environmental factors. Any input?

BTW, on the which calibre....300 short.

I will be setting my baits up next weekend out here in SK (baitiing is allowed)

The area I am in has lots of colour phase bears from blondes to chocolates!

I am hoping to find a P&Y bear & take him with my bow.

Plans? Finally, if some of this snow ever melts, I hope to cruise around the backroads until a healthy bruin shows up. I have a couple of really nice colour phase boars that have eluded me the past 2 years in mind, and I'm hoping they will be hanging around the areas I've seen them before.

Ultimately, I'm just looking to get out in the bush, get some fresh air and exercise, and maybe stumble across a shooter.
