Mule deer change in region 5
This changes our plan for a 7 day horse back trip in mid Nov for mulies. Was going to put my deposit down tomorrow. Does the change wreck any one else's plans ? For me I have to plan my holidays well in advance. Maybe I'll check go to region 4 instead.

I always make a five day weekend around Nov 11 and hunt region 5. Not this year. That doesn't help the rural communities in region 5 who depend on our tourism dollars, especially in these times of recession and a dead forest industry.
The change in region 5 dates is pure BS to placate the guide outfitters, who want "trophy animals" and "quality experiences" (ie very few resident hunters in the bush) to sell to their rich foreign clients. There is NO conservation concern for mule deer in region 5 (buck:doe ratio is 19.3:100, which is statistically consistent with the provincial goal of 20:100). It's all about the GOABC influencing the wildlife branch at our expense.

region 5
if they had left the regs alone a few years ago the 2/3points would not have been open in Nov for those who chose to shoot a meat deer during rut thus ensuring a better population of mature bucks down the road
