Fort those who haven't shot a lot,or are a bit rusty with their Trapshooting,I'm going to run three classes on all three days.
Novice class for those who are new to the sport or just aren't very good but want to have some fun.You can win two prizes in this division and then you move up to--------- Intermediate Class. Most shooters shoot in this class. You can win two prizes in this class and then you must move up to-------- Open Class. This is where it gets a bit tougher to win but if you get put in this class then you're pretty good with a shotgun anyways. I make a few exceptions to these rules. If a group of 5 guys wants to shoot together then they are able to do so regardless of ability. It's pretty common for 5 guys to enter 10 shoots together and everyone takes home 2 prizes regardless of who wins. We shoot all the games.16 to 27 yards,Buddy Shoots, Bushwackers, Sliders, Annie Oakleys, and whatever else you can think of. Might even use the wobble Trap as well. I always reserve the right to classify shooters myself if neccessary because I know the majority of them and every year I get a couple of guys who try to convince the shoot staff that they are lesser shooters than they actually are.Usually if they sneak by us they'll find that they are policed by the other shooters and they will be asked to leave if they want to play the game that way.We do our best to make it fair and fun for everyone. We want to see everybody have an equal chance to win. We're going to try and run a few Ladies Only shoots this year as well. December 11th and 12th for the Turkey Shoot.Trap,Rifle and on the 12th only, the Archers will be joining the Turkey Shoot and open up the 3D course for all those who can pull a bowstring. Turkeys,Hams(Real Hams, not Pork Picnics)Slabs of Bacon and Multi Packs of Chickens will be available December 19th Trap Prize Shoot 12 Gauge Ammunition will be available.Bring your PAL. The kitchen will be open on all three days.Hamburgers,Hot Dogs and Pop. We get started around 9:00AM and shoot until we lose the light. Everyone is welcome.Hope to see you there. Dave |

Each event will cost either $7.50 or $8.00(can't remember where we set the price this year)on the 11th and 12th.This is the Turkey Shoot where we give out Turkeys,Hams,Bacons or Chickens.
Each round consists of 10 target regardless of what game you shoot. The Prize Shoot on the 19th will probably cost $10 a shoot. It depends on what we have for prizes and how much they cost us.This hasn't been determined as of yet.Same thing here,10 targets per event you enter. Both weekends are strictly fun events. No registered targets. Entry cost does not include ammunition which must be target loads only.NO HI BRASS HUNTING LOADS ALLOWED. Dave |

![]() Come on now..your really think that some of those old handloaders won't have prepared a few "special " loads for those "behind the fence" games.. If some mainlanders show up, it wouldn't surprise me to hear a few louder pops..as some clubs over there have allowed these "special" loads in the past for their fun shoots..better be prepared to strip and weigh a few loads.. ![]() I better get loading..I think I still have some reclaimed shot around here somewhere...

Some Canadian GunNutz and HuntShoot members had an informal trap shoot at Lone Butte a few years ago where one of the older shooters decided it was a good place to get rid of his old 3" magnum lead duck loads. The shooting line was bang, bang, bang, KERBOOM! with the shooters flanking the old guy being nearly deafened despite wearing muffs.

You'd be suprised. Most shooters comply with our wishes regarding ammo. It's amazing the effect that 100 shooters will have on a guy when his ammo is questioned.I've been doing these Turkey Shoots for 25 years and when a guy is suspected of cheating(which is what it is) he usually finds that his name is the only name on a squad sheet and that nobody wants to shoot with him.He either bucks up or goes home.I've had guys do both over the years. As I said in a previous post, the shooters do a pretty good job of policing themselves. You must have missed the part where I mentioned Hi brass loads were not allowed. You don't need to strip and weigh a Hi Brass load. It's pretty obvious what they are.
At our club you can't shoot at distances further than 30 yards(and that's pushing it).Any trapshooter who knows his stuff knows that a 3 dram 1 1/8 oz load is all thats required for solid breaks from that distance.Anything more and you're just punishing yourself. A full 90% of our Annie Oakleys are won by guys using 2 3/4 or 3 dram factory target loads. In fact, over 90% of the shoots are won by guys using this same ammo. You can't totally eliminate cheating but over the years we've done a pretty good job of minimizing it.That's why we'll put up to 100 squads through per day.Guys like our shoot because we do our best to keep thing fair.
