The fires are a bit North of Nazko proper. It is unlikely the fires will be fully mopped up before the season opens.

Here is the latest info from BC Forest Fire Info;

PELICAN LAKE WILDFIRES CREATE HAZARDOUS ROAD CONDITIONS
by BC Forest Fire Info on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 6:02pm
WILLIAMS LAKE - Travellers in the Titetown, Pelican Lake and Pantage Lake areas are urged to use caution. Drought and extreme wildfire behaviour have weakened root systems, causing trees to fall and block roadways. These conditions are expected to persist for the next several weeks. Travellers should drive at low speeds.

AREA RESTRICTION ORDER NEAR PELICAN LAKE REMAINS IN PLACE
by BC Forest Fire Info on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 6:26pm

WILLIAMS LAKE – While campfire and open burning bans have been lifted for the Cariboo Fire Centre, the pulic is reminded that the Area Restriction Order in the Pelican Lake and Pantage Lake area remains in place. Failure to comply with this order can result in a fine up to $5,000 and imprisonment of up to six months.

Large, intense wildfires that have burned in the Pelican lake area this summer have caused hazardous road conditions due to falling trees.

For the safety of the public and fire personnel, the BC Wildfire Management Branch has issued an Area Restriction Order.

This order applies to Crown land within the geographic boundaries described below :

The Batnuni Lake Forest Service Road between the Pelican Forest Service Road junction and the Blackwater Road junction
The Nazko Road north from the Alec Meadow Road junction to the Batnuni Lake Forest Service Road
The 8500 Road network south of the Batnuni Lake Forest Service Road and west of the Blackwater Road
The Spruce Road between the 8500 Road and the Blackwater Road at the north end of Pantage Lake.
