Question about Chetwynd - region 7-35
This year I want to go to the Fort St. John - Chetwynd area, as I have never been there. I am looking in the synopsis and I'm thinking region 7-35, but when I look it up in Google, it is almost entirely private land. I prefer not to hunt on private land.
If someone knows this area can you tell me if there is good crown land with spots for camping in 7-35. Do i have good chances getting a moose or elk there at end the of October or its not worth going 1100 km from Vancouver? |

Hi Wayne,
I've hunted 7-35 quite a few times, most recently last winter as we had an antlerless elk group hunt. Overall, I'd say that the elk population is increasing while the moose population is declining. If you'd like to know a place to hunt elk, then I could send you a PM regarding a few places that I know. The elk are mainly on private land. The openings are designed for hunters to gain permission from ranchers to hunt on their lands, in order to help control the burgeoning elk population that damages crop land and feeds on stored hay. You can get lists of ranchers who will allow hunters on their lands, and you arrange a time to be there. PM me if you want more info.
