Wink Things I have discovered about hunting and shooting on the internet ……

1) Hunters want rifle cartridges that shoot flat out to 800 yards while producing the recoil of a .22 rimfire.

2) Shooting a ruffed grouse with a .22 is immoral.

3) We want bullets that drop an animal “dead-right-there” or “bang-flop” without destroying more than 3 ounces of meat.

4) When shooting beets it is the cartridge that counts, not the bullet loaded in the cartridge.

5) When the .270 Winchester vs 30-06 Springfield debate starts everyone will defend whichever one they currently own.

6) Firearms manufactures develop new cartridge just to boost sale. (I have to mention that I am puzzled as to why keeping a firearms manufacturer in business is a bad thing unless you’re a member of the Coalition for Gun Control.)

7) You need to be dressed in head to toe camouflage to kill a deer.

8) Most butchers steal meat.

9) All big game needs to be hung head down.

10) All big game has to be hung head up.

11) All rifles on the internet are capable of sub MOA accuracy.

12) If I am selling a used rifle I should ask 110% of current retail price. Conversely, if buying a used rifle I should offer 25% of current retail.

13) Cast bullets are no good for hunting. Cup & Core bullets are no good for hunting. Expanding monolithic bullets are no good for hunting. Dedicated target bullets however are GREAT for hunting big game.

14) Browning rifles are crap as are Winchester, Remington, Ruger, SAKO, Savage, Weatherby……..

15) Guys who shoot rifles chambered for a magnum cartridge have little dicks.

16) If you don’t agree with a particular law you just ignore it rather than work towards changing it.

17) All dangerous game rifles have to be bolt actions with controlled round feed capable of being loaded with 5 cartridges in the magazine and one in the chamber …………. or a double rifle.

18) Steel shot won’t kill a goose.

19) Wolves are bulletproof.

20) My personal ethical standards are what everyone should be judged by.

21) A bullet must exit a big game animal regardless of angle.

22) A bullet must dump all it's energy in the animal and be found stuck under the hide on the off-side.

23) A bullet failed if it didn't retain 100% of it's original weight even when it is removed from a dead animal.

Please feel free to add your own ............

A few more ...........

24) The maximum loads shown in reloading manuals are written by lawyers and can be exceeded when one wants to wring all the performance possible of a firearm.

25) Head to toe camouflage, ultra-light rifles, and $500.00 hiking boots, are required accoutrements for road hunters.

26) Hitting anywhere on a 16" x 16" target at 30 yards means your rifle is sited in good enough for hunting.

27) If your the first one in a cut, you own it.
28) Bushpigs drink canned Budweiser
29) You can keep the grizz bears off your kill by leaving your jacket on the carcass

30) If your a newbie to the sport, ask and expect to receive directions to other experienced hunters Honey Hole's.(I'm actually surprised that this does work )
31) If your an experienced hunter down on your luck, don't expect anyone to tell you where their Honey Holes are.
32) Asking "Which is the Best" of anything, be it make of firearm, cartridge, type of action, etc., will lead to very long threads, even if the same question has been asked many time before.

33) A hunter MUST own a Quad or a Jetboat to consistantly take home animals
34) Sharpening your hunting knife is best done after you drop your animal
35) Spotting scopes and Bino's are for wimps, your scope is all you need
36)Bigger, more powerful Quads will get you further back in the bush
37)Hunters must have at least half a dozen hunting knives on them at all times (Preferably dull ones)
38) ALL animals in the bush are afraid of people and will run at the first sign of you

Blue jeans and a blanket lined Jean jacket will get you skunked.

All guys driving down "Your" hunting road are inconsiderant A-Holes.

Chucking Bud cans out the window brings you luck.

All dogs go to heaven,Oh wait, that one IS true.

Yes, empty beer cans and shot up road signs are what a lot of non-hunters think of when they think of hunters. These types of slob behaviours are what we - the law-abiding majority - must try and curtail.
